Softball Game Preview: Pike County Pirates vs. Rutland Hurricanes

The Pike County Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the Rutland Hurricanes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pike County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Rutland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Pike County made easy work of Locust Grove and carried off a 10-3 victory. Considering the Pirates have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Rutland unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 16-1 to Pike County.

The win made it two in a row for Pike County and bumps their season record up to 15-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Rutland, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-19.

Everything went Pike County's way against Rutland in their previous meeting on Tuesday, as Pike County made off with a 16-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
