Soccer Game Preview: Whitewater vs. LaGrange

The Whitewater Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the LaGrange Grangers at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Whitewater sitting on nine straight victories and LaGrange on five.

LaGrange better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Whitewater's game on Tuesday is any indication, that's when Whitewater really gets things going. Whitewater was the clear victor by a 4-0 margin over Sandy Creek. Whitewater might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by three goals or more this season.

They hit Sandy Creek with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from VJ Kelly (2), Jacob Ross, and Maddox Strickland.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times LaGrange and Troup County have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. LaGrange had just enough and edged out Troup County 2-1. That's two games straight that LaGrange have won by just one goal.

LaGrange's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those four matches. As for Whitewater, their record is now 10-2.

Everything went Whitewater's way against LaGrange when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Whitewater made off with an 8-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whitewater since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
