Softball Recap: South Effingham Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

South Effingham had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Jeff Davis on Saturday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Yellowjackets. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Kelsee Collins got the start for South Effingham and what a start it was: she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, Collins posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in August.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sydney Minshall, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

The victory was the third in a row for South Effingham, bringing their record up to 15-2. As for Jeff Davis, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-8.

Looking ahead, South Effingham will be playing in front of their home fans against Evans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jeff Davis, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-6 loss against Effingham County on the 27th.
