Preview: Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers vs. Madeira Snails
After three games on the road, Georgetown Day is heading back home. They will take on the Madeira Snails at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Madeira took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Georgetown Day, who comes in off a win.
Last Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Georgetown Day beat Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart 43-39. Given Georgetown Day's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked third in District of Columbia, while Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart is ranked 119th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Georgetown Day's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nevaeh Roberson led the charge by scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Roberson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Moore, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Madeira came up short against National Cathedral on Wednesday and fell 51-38. Madeira has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Georgetown Day's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Madeira, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-4.
Georgetown Day strolled past Madeira when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 53-35. Does Georgetown Day have another victory up their sleeve, or will Madeira turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
