Football Game Preview: Archmere Academy Auks vs. Mount Pleasant Green Knights

Archmere Academy has gone a perfect 5-0 against Mount Pleasant recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Auks will welcome the Green Knights at 2:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Saturday.

Archmere Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Wilmington Friends, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Archmere Academy was ranked 14th). The Auks blew past the Quakers 28-6 on Saturday. With the Auks ahead 21-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Archmere Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Donovan led the charge by rushing for 40 yards and one TD, while also picking up 36 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another passer making a difference was Johnny Orsini, who threw for 107 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten passes.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contest, Mount Pleasant brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They breezed past Glasgow to the tune of 44-0 last Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Green Knights in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won three in a row.

Mount Pleasant's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Archmere Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Archmere Academy strolled past Mount Pleasant in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 28-12. Do the Auks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Green Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
