Basketball Game Preview: Nevada Union Miners vs. Yuba City Honkers

The Nevada Union Miners will venture away from home to square off against the Yuba City Honkers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Nevada Union and nine for Yuba City.

Nevada Union is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Granite Bay on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Nevada Union had to suffer through a 66-31 loss at the hands of Granite Bay. The Miners were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-18.

Ava Ban put forth a good effort for the losing side as she went 6 of 15 on her way to 15 points along with five boards and three steals. She is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-29, which was the final score in Yuba City's tilt against Marysville on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Honkers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 987th, while the Indians are ranked 227th).

Nevada Union's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Yuba City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
