Softball Game Preview: Islands Sharks vs. Long County Blue Tide

Islands is 2-8 against Long County since August of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Sharks will square off against the Blue Tide at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, Islands was able to grind out a solid victory over Calvary Day, taking the game 13-9. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sharks.

Meanwhile, Long County got themselves on the board against Calvary Day on Tuesday, but Calvary Day never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Cavaliers. Considering the Blue Tide have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Long County's win bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Islands, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Islands suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Long County in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
