Basketball Recap: Mercer Comes Up Short

Mercer lost to Kennedy Catholic back in February of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mustangs took a 47-28 bruising from Kennedy Catholic. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Kennedy Catholic are ranked 56th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kennedy Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tori Harvey, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Sophia Gargasz was another key player, putting up 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Mercer and nudges their season record down to 6-4. As for Kennedy Catholic, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mercer will challenge Reynolds at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kennedy Catholic, they will take on McDowell at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
