Basketball Recap: Santa Teresa Saints vs. Oak Grove Eagles
The Santa Teresa Saints were the 50-34 winner over the Oak Grove Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Santa Teresa fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 42-39. Santa Teresa has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Santa Teresa's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nevaeh Lacy, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Dahlia Daboul who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Lacy hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Kayden Reynolds, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds.
Oak Grove's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emilie Ngo, who scored 20 points. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Ngo has scored at least a third of Oak Grove's points. Maleya Balinton was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Santa Teresa's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7. As for Oak Grove, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Santa Teresa will head out on the road to square off against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Silver Creek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 724th, while the Saints are ranked 359th). As for Oak Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Piedmont Hills has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
