Jefferson and Saxony Lutheran are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2015, but likely not for long. The Blue Jays will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. Jefferson has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Jefferson is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Hillsboro on Monday. They lost 17-1 to the Hawks. The Blue Jays have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, while Saxony Lutheran put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Perryville. The Crusaders were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Pirates. Considering the Crusaders have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Natalie Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Adrionna Boland and Mabrie Barke did most of the damage at the plate: Boland went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Barke went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Jenna Unterreiner was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Saxony Lutheran pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Jefferson suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Saxony Lutheran in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Blue Jays have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
