Basketball Game Preview: Central Lancers vs. Masterman

The Central Lancers will head out to square off against Masterman at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Central is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Mastery Charter Hardy Williams 60-22 on Friday. With the Lancers ahead 35-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Central found their leader in sophomore Stevie Hall, who went 9 for 16 on her way to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Hall a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Yancey, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Masterman didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Baldwin on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 47-41 win.

Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for Masterman, their record is now 6-7.

Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Masterman in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 50-42. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Masterman's Jocelyn Goldstein, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 18 boards. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Central still be able to contain Goldstein? There's only one way to find out.
