Football Game Preview: Wimberley Texans vs. Sinton Pirates + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Maverick Jacobs and Mykha Green are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Wimberley Texans will challenge the Sinton Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Wimberley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Robstown 45-20. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Texans.

Meanwhile, Sinton took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 52-21 victory over Jarrell. Considering the Pirates have won seven matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Wimberley better keep an eye on Marcos Zapata. He was instrumental in Sinton's win, rushing for 142 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. Those 142 rushing yards gave Zapata a new career-high.

Sinton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 428 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 243 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Sinton's defense and their three sacks. Ace Fuentes refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two sacks all by himself. Sinton got some further help from Fuentes: he picked up two sacks and made ten total tackles.

Wimberley's record is now 8-4. As for Sinton, their record now sits at 11-1.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Wimberley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 160.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sinton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 321.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Wimberley came out on top in a nail-biter against Sinton in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, sneaking past 36-33. Will the Texans repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
