Football Game Preview: Valley Vikings vs. Capital Jaguars

The Valley Vikings will take on the Capital Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valley has given up an average of 34.2 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Valley is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Highland on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Vikings took a blow against the Hornets, falling 48-20. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-7.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous five contest, Capital brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 33-0 win over Rio Grande. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Ravens recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Capital's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. In that department, Dakota Abbott was the leader with two sacks. Capital got some further help from Daniel Pearlman: he made seven total tackles (2.0 for loss) and snagged an interception.

Capital's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Valley, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Capital when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 25-12. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
