Soccer Game Preview: St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy vs. Calvary Chapel

The St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors will take on the Calvary Chapel Eagles in a holiday battle at at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy fell victim to Sierra Canyon and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 4-0 to the Trailblazers. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 518th, while the Trailblazers are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Calvary Chapel was forced to settle for a draw. They and Godinez Fundamental finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw on Thursday.

Calvary Chapel's draw gives them a new season record of 4-4-1. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5-1.
