Basketball Recap: West Union Comes Up Short

West Union extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were beaten by the Shannon Red Raiders 59-24. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

As for Shannon, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 39 points this season.

Cambry Shannon was a one-woman wrecking crew as she almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in boards (four). Kirsten Evans was another key player, shooting 47% from the field to rack up 16 points and three steals.

West Union wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-20 win against Regents on the 14th. As for Shannon, they have also already played their next contest, a 45-37 loss against South Pontotoc on the 11th.
