Recap: North Garland Raiders vs. Sachse Mustangs
The North Garland Raiders lost against the Sachse Mustangs back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. North Garland was outmatched by Sachse on the road and fell 56-19. While losing is never fun, North Garland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 677th, while Sachse is ranked 56th).
North Garland's loss came despite strong showings from Mateo Howard and Christian Hampton. Howard picked up 57 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Hampton threw for 71 yards and two touchdowns.
Brenden George was his usual excellent self, throwing for 307 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per attempt. George has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Kaliq Lockett did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 134 receiving yards.
North Garland's defeat was their third straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 3-8. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Sachse, Wylie East, and Lakeview Centennial. As for Sachse, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
North Garland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sachse will take on Rockwall-Heath at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rockwall-Heath is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
