Basketball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Buena Park's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

If Godinez Fundamental wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Buena Park, they should've done a better job of containing Gloria Barrera. The Buena Park Coyotes blew past the Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies 66-41 on Thursday thanks in part to Barrera, who went 15 for 23 on her way to 32 points and five steals. The contest was her 17th in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Mya Barnes, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

Godinez Fundamental's loss came despite strong showings from Brianna Lopez and Julissa Mota. Lopez scored seven points and three steals, while Mota earned six points. Valerie Esteban was another key player, putting up six points.

Buena Park is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-pointers: they averaged an imposing 7.15 three-pointers in those games compared to only 7.15 in the others. As for Godinez Fundamental, they dropped their record down to 13-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
