Softball Recap: Harris County Wins High-Profile Game Against Northside

Harris County faced Northside in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers walked away with a 4-1 win over the Patriots. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three matches in a row.

Riley Huckaby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Harris County let Lanie Guthrey and Harper Horton run wild. Guthrey went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Horton went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Harris County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northside struck out nine times.

Harris County's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Northside, their loss dropped their record down to 16-3.

Coincidentally, Harris County and Northside will both be playing Northgate the next time they take the field. The Tigers will host the Vikings at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Patriots will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
