Basketball Recap: Kali Carter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Serra over Santa Ynez

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Serra can now relate to. They took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Santa Ynez Pirates. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Serra's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kali Carter, who posted 11 points. What's more, Carter also posted a 36% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mariyah Lewis, who put up 11 points.

Santa Ynez can attribute much of their success to Rylan Agin, who scored 15 points and five rebounds. Jasmine Juarez was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Serra's loss dropped their record down to 18-14. As for Santa Ynez, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-11.

Serra does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Santa Ynez, they have already played their next matchup, a 53-29 defeat against Granada Hills Charter on the 6th.
