Torres came tearing into Saturday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past the Mendota Aztecs with a 36-32 victory. The 36-point effort marked the Toros' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Torres' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaylin Perez led the charge by putting up ten points and four steals. Perez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Garcia, who posted no points along with eight steals and five assists.

Torres smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Torres' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Mendota, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-3.

Torres wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-15 victory against McLane on the 27th. As for Mendota, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fresno at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
