Baseball Recap: Forest Park Victorious

Forest Park took a 16-run defeat the last time they faced off against Pace Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Forest Park skirted past Pace Academy 11-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their two-run performance the match before.

Casey Jones looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Tyrese Jenkins was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Forest Park is undefeated when Jenkins posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Andre Turnipseed, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Forest Park's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Pace Academy, they moved to 10-7 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Forest Park Panthers challenge Jackson Jaguars at 5:55 p.m. on Friday. Jackson will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Forest Park surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pace Academy, they will challenge Holy Innocents Episcopal at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday. Holy Innocents Episcopal's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Pace Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
