Softball Recap: Orange Park Drops Highest Score of Season Against St. Augustine

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Orange Park). They blew past the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets 22-12 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won five in a row.

Avery Louque made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Orange Park got a massive performance out of Addison Toledo, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with five runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI Toledo has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Makayla Ballard, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Orange Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .681. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Orange Park's victory bumped their record up to 4-16. As for St. Augustine, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-22.

Orange Park and St. Augustine could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Raiders (ranked 429th) will meet Creekside (ranked 80th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, St. Augustine will face off against Tocoi Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (470 vs. 153).
