Soccer Game Preview: Mountain View vs. El Monte

The Mountain View Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the El Monte Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

On Saturday, Mountain View didn't have quite enough to beat Marshall and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 978th, while the Eagles are ranked 487th).

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for El Monte's offense. They came up short against Gabrielino on Thursday, falling 4-0.

Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 4-8-4. As for El Monte, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Mountain View suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to El Monte in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Mountain View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
