Rochester is a perfect 9-0 against Springfield Southeast since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Rockets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Rochester will be strutting in after a victory while Springfield Southeast will be coming in after a loss.

On Thursday, Rochester was able to grind out a solid win over Jacksonville, taking the game 4-2. The victory was all the more spectacular given Rochester's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Jacksonville are ranked 99th).

Rochester hit Jacksonville with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Brenden McArdle (2), Nick Pier, and Ahmad Hussein.

Meanwhile, Springfield Southeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Lincoln, falling 7-0.

The win made it two in a row for Rochester and bumps their season record up to 6-9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those two matchups. As for Springfield Southeast, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16-2.

Rochester took their win against Springfield Southeast in their previous matchup back in August of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
