Football Recap: Xavier Randolph and Pierson Collier Secure Win for Giles County

Giles County had won four straight at home, but on Friday they bumped up to 7-3 to make it five. They had just enough and edged out the Sequatchie County Indians 41-38. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Bobcats were the better team in the second half.

A big part of Giles County's win came down to the chemistry between Xavier Randolph and his top target Pierson Collier. Randolph rushed for 86 yards and one TD on only eight carries while Collier gained 177 total yards and three touchdowns. Randolph's longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Dallas Buckner also helped with two scores in total.

Giles County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sequatchie County only rushed for 148.

As for Sequatchie County, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-3. Despite 72 more yards than Giles County, the Indians couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Sequatchie County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Hunter Minton, who threw for 381 yards and one touchdown while picking up 13.6 yards per attempt, and Austin Griffith, who gained 147 total yards and a touchdown.

Giles County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 victory against Chattanooga Central on the 7th. As for Sequatchie County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 41-7 win against Brainerd on the 6th.
