Basketball Game Preview: Rio Mesa Spartans vs. Pacifica Tritons

Rio Mesa hasn't had much luck against Pacifica recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rio Mesa Spartans will challenge the Pacifica Tritons at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Rio Mesa is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Saturday. They were dealt an 85-50 defeat at the hands of Oxnard. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 89th).

Meanwhile, Pacifica was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a 51-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dos Pueblos.

Rio Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Pacifica, their loss dropped their record down to 7-16.

Rio Mesa skirted past Pacifica 47-45 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rio Mesa since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
