Normal University waltzed into their contest on Saturday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered a 2-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Normal University had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-21, 15-7.

Their offense was headlined by Ava Crabtree and Madison Funk, who picked up nine kills apiece. Funk really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 16. Crabtree was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Normal University's win bumped their record up to 23-4. As for Mahomet-Seymour, their defeat ended a 26-match streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 23-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Normal University will head out to take on Sacred Heart-Griffin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mahomet-Seymour, they will venture away from home to square off against Mt. Zion at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
