Basketball Recap: Newport Comes Up Short

Newport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 42-17 to the Upper Dauphin Area Trojans. The game marked the Buffaloes' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Reagan Wentzel was a one-woman wrecking crew for Upper Dauphin Area as she almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. That's the most points Wentzel has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Rothermel, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points and eight rebounds.

Newport's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Upper Dauphin Area, their record is now 7-5.

Newport will square off against Halifax at 7:20 p.m. on Thursday. As for Upper Dauphin Area, they will head out to face off against Greenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
