Preview: South El Monte Eagles vs. Mountain View Vikings
The South El Monte Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Mountain View Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Last Friday, South El Monte had to suffer through a rough 60-18 loss at the hands of Gabrielino. While losing is never fun, South El Monte can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 911th, while Gabrielino is ranked 300th).
Meanwhile, Mountain View was beaten by Arroyo 60-7 on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mountain View has scored all season.
South El Monte has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Mountain View, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6.
Things could have been worse for South El Monte, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 38-24 loss to Mountain View when the teams last played back in January. Can South El Monte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
