Baseball Recap: Shaw Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Shaw had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Carver Tigers with a sharp 18-3 win. Considering the Raiders have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kingston Long made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Shaw's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 8-9 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Kingsley Long was a standout: he scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Deshaun Mays was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Shaw's record now sits at 11-9. As for Carver, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Shaw will have a chance to go back-to-back against Carver: the pair will be back at it again later today.
