Softball Recap: Mangum Victorious

Mangum's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Sentinel a 29-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with Sentinel: they've now won six in a row.

Jaycee McFerrin looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Hanna Stehr was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Destiny Carrier was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Mangum kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Mangum's win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Coming up, Mangum will challenge Fletcher at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Sentinel, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hammon at 6:00 p.m. on September 2.
