Baseball Recap: Washington-Liberty Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

After losing to Wakefield the last time they met, Washington-Liberty decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Generals came out on top against the Warriors on Friday by a score of 4-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Kailen Hackmann looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Washington-Liberty's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jack Keane, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Washington-Liberty hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Washington-Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Wakefield, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

Washington-Liberty has already played their next game (against Wakefield School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Wakefield, they will venture away from home to take on McLean at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
