Baseball Recap: Bentley Victorious

Bentley took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Genesee, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolves on Wednesday, sneaking past 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kaydenze Hurlburt and Cole Bowman did most of the damage at the plate: Hurlburt went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one stolen base, while Bowman went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs. Bowman is becoming a predictor of Bentley's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Garrett Leonard was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Bentley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2025.

Bentley's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for Genesee, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Bentley has already played their next game, a 14-13 win against More Academy on the 15th. As for Genesee, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-1 defeat against Mt. Morris on the 16th.
