Football Recap: Key West Drops Season-High Score on Lehigh

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Key West). They took down the Lehigh Lightning 40-22 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Conchs needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Key West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Walson Morin, who rushed for 265 yards and three scores on only 15 carries, and also picked up 41 receiving yards and one TD. Morin's longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards. Jeff Dejean was another key back, rushing for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Key West was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 446 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Key West's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 points over those games. As for Lehigh, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Key West will face off against Jackson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Conchs will be up against the Generals' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33.43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lehigh, they will square off against Riverview Sarasota at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
