Baseball Game Preview: Roncalli Jets vs. Chilton Tigers

For the second straight game, Roncalli will face off against Chilton. The Jets will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Roncalli made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Chilton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Jets fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Jets couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Chilton's part, Nathan Mueller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. Mueller also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Tigers are undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 7-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Chilton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rayden Wagner, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Ethan Schneider was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Chilton pushed their record up to 11-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Roncalli, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.
