Basketball Recap: Bisbee's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

After flying high against St. Augustine Catholic last Thursday, Bisbee came back down to earth. The Bisbee Pumas took a hard 71-54 fall against The Gregory School Hawks on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pumas of the 62-46 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.

Despite the loss, Bisbee still got an impressive performance from Sebastian Lopez, who almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds. Lopez's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Wright, who posted 12 points.

Leading The Gregory School to victory were Jackson Dickinson and Devin Dawson. Dickinson went 6 of 12 on his way to 21 points along with eight boards and six assists, while Dawson dropped a triple-double on 18 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. Dawson is becoming a predictor of The Gregory School's success: when he posts at least eight assists the team is 13-6 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Amay Munjal was another key player, putting up eight points.

The loss snapped Bisbee's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-11 record. As for The Gregory School, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.

Bisbee is taking a road trip to square off against San Miguel at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bisbee is facing San Miguel at the right time seeing as San Miguel is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. The Gregory School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
