Baseball Recap: Genesee Wolves vs. Memphis Yellowjackets

Genesee extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 5-7. They came up short against the Memphis Yellowjackets, falling 9-2. If the Wolves were looking for revenge after losing 14-3 to the Yellowjackets when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Peacock has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. He has become a key player for Memphis: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Tanner Gutt was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Memphis' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-1 (and 6-8-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Keegan Walsh, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Genesee will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against More Academy at 4:30 p.m. As for Memphis, they are taking a road trip to take on Peck at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
