Basketball Recap: Vista Murrieta Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against King, Vista Murrieta was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Poly Bears by a score of 57-48. The score was all tied up 26-26 at the break, but the Broncos were the better team in the second half.

Vista Murrieta can attribute much of their success to Shajade Banks, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Banks a new career-high in steals (six). Alana Burnett was another key player, going 6 for 11 on her way to 12 points.

Poly's loss came despite strong showings from Abby Folsom and Elizabeth Murray. Folsom posted 23 points, while Murray put up 18 points. That was a full 47.9% of Poly's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Vista Murrieta's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Poly, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Vista Murrieta didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-35 loss against Rancho Cucamonga on the 27th. As for Poly, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-45 victory against Tahquitz on the 27th.
