Basketball Recap: Chula Vista Skates Past San Ysidro with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chula Vista). They took their contest on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 52-19 win over the San Ysidro Cougars. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Chula Vista was led to victory by Nyla Dixie and Tracy Echoku. Dixie almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 14 boards, and nine steals, while Echoku dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 rebounds. Dixie is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Chula Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, San Ysidro still got an impressive performance from Sophia Ruiz, who posted six points. Those six points gave Ruiz a new career-high.

Chula Vista now has a winning record of 3-2. As for San Ysidro, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Chula Vista wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 39-26 defeat against Tri-City Christian on the 14th. As for San Ysidro, they will venture away from home to challenge Monte Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
