Football Recap: Gabriel Gutierrez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Milby over Wisdom

Milby lost against Wisdom back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Buffs fell 50-43 to the Generals.

Milby lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gabriel Gutierrez, who threw for 349 yards and seven TDs while picking up 12.5 yards per attempt. Milby's leading receiver Artavion Davis was Gutierrez's top target yet again, picking up 216 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Ajani Mayeux had an outrageously good game for Wisdom as he rushed for 235 yards on only 13 carries. Mayeux's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. J'Dynn Lancaster helped out on the ground, rushing for 120 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Milby's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Wisdom, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Milby wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 56-0 loss against Waltrip on the 12th. As for Wisdom, they have also already played their next contest, a 39-0 defeat against Fort Bend Kempner on the 11th.
