Soccer Game Preview: Monte Vista Christian vs. Alisal

The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Alisal Trojans at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Monte Vista Christian's last seven matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

If Alisal heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Monte Vista Christian took over last week. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Carmel on Monday. That's two games straight that Monte Vista Christian have won by just one goal.

Tea Knowles Osmeni and Hailey Tipton scored both of Monte Vista Christian's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Alisal kept a clean sheet against North Monterey County on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Condors with a sharp 4-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Alisal.

Alisal's win bumped their record up to 7-9-6. As for Monte Vista Christian, they now have a winning record of 8-7-5.

Monte Vista Christian beat Alisal by a goal in their previous matchup back in January, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
