Basketball Game Preview: San Diego Cavers vs. High Tech SD Storm

San Diego is a perfect 4-0 against High Tech SD since November of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The San Diego Cavers will face off against the High Tech SD Storm at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

San Diego is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on Hoover with a sharp 70-50 victory on Friday. The Cavers haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

San Diego got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Marilyn Daniel out in front who went 6 for 11 en route to 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Daniel a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Nitzel, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 19 boards.

San Diego smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for High Tech SD against Academy of Our Lady of Peace on Tuesday as the squad secured a 72-42 win. The Storm have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.

San Diego's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-13. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.2 points. As for High Tech SD, their win bumped their record up to 14-12.

San Diego took their victory against High Tech SD in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 64-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Diego since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
