San Luis Obispo had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They greeted the New Year with with a 44-28 win over the Redwood Rangers. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Rangers are ranked 351st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jazmaine Stewart and Jelena Singkeovilay certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Stewart posted eight points and seven boards, while Singkeovilay put up three points and three steals.

San Luis Obispo pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Redwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

San Luis Obispo will host Templeton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Redwood, they will take on Porterville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
