McDowell is 2-8 against Cathedral Prep since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Trojans will welcome the Ramblers at 6:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with McDowell sitting on four straight wins and Cathedral Prep on seven.
On Monday, McDowell earned a 6-2 victory over General McLane.

Andrew Samluk looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because McDowell is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise.
At the plate, Colton Orlando was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. McDowell is undefeated when Orlando posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. Maxwell Orsefskie was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Cathedral Prep got the win against General McLane on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-2. Considering the Ramblers have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Derick Friedman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Ciukaj, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Davin Friedman, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Cathedral Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
McDowell now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Cathedral Prep, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. McDowell hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. However, it's not like Cathedral Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .356. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
McDowell suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Cathedral Prep in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
