Basketball Recap: Demi Boykin and Abigail Pietz Secure Win for Marysville

Marysville hadn't done well against Lincoln recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Marysville Indians came out on top against the Lincoln Fighting Zebras by a score of 55-48. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Marysville was led to victory by Abigail Pietz and Demi Boykin. Pietz posted 14 points along with five assists and five boards, while Boykin had 15 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Boykin's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Collins, who scored seven points and eight rebounds.

Marysville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Lincoln lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being TAYLOR BUTLER, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 17 boards. BUTLER is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. ISA KEIDEL was another key player, going 7 for 15 on her way to 17 points and six rebounds.

Marysville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Lincoln, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season.

Marysville has already played their next contest, an 81-29 victory against Wheatland on the 24th. As for Lincoln, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-24 win against Center on the 24th.
