Basketball Recap: Triton Comes Up Short

Triton lost against Westover back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Triton Hawks took a 46-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westover Wolverines. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while the Wolverines are ranked 150th).

Westover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tytiana Dowden led the charge by putting up 18 points along with five boards and three steals. Westover is undefeated when Dowden posts 15 or more points, but 9-10 otherwise. Ty'Asia Carr was another key player, earning 15 points and five rebounds.

Triton has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Westover, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-10.

Triton has already played their next match (against Overhills), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Westover, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-37 victory against Pine Forest on the 17th.
