Softball Recap: Silex Has No Trouble Against Wellsville-Middletown

Silex won against Monroe City on Monday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Everything went the Owls' way against the Wellsville-Middletown Tigers as they made off with a 16-0 win. The Owls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Silex got a massive performance out of Austyn Van Horn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs Van Horn has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kherrington Morris, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Silex was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Silex and bumps their season record up to 10-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Wellsville-Middletown, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Silex will challenge Union at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Owls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Wellsville-Middletown, they will face off against Wright City at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
