Baseball Game Preview: Burroughs Bombers vs. Chaminade Red Devils

The Burroughs Bombers will take on the Chaminade Red Devils at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Burroughs will be strutting in after a win while Chaminade will be coming in after a loss.

Burroughs is returning to their home field after beating Clayton on theirs, despite the fact Clayton has dominated at home this season. The Bombers won by a run and slipped past the Greyhounds 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Bombers in their matchups with the Greyhounds: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Chaminade started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Alton. They fell just short of the Redbirds by a score of 6-5 on Monday. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Redbirds recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Chaminade had to settle for second despite strong performances on the mound from Owen Plocher and Charlie Hobbs Plocher tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Hobbs tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Plocher has allowed since back in May of 2025.

At the plate, Jackson Miller made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Burroughs' win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Chaminade, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.

Burroughs came out on top in a nail-biter against Chaminade in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Bombers repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
