Softball Recap: Mercy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Mercy had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 13-9 win over the Omaha Central Eagles on Tuesday. The Monarchs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Alexis Nuefind and Vanessa Burton did most of the damage at the plate: Nuefind went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Burton went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two runs gave Nuefind a new career-high. AJ Ersland was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mercy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mercy's victory bumped their record up to 7-21. As for Omaha Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-11.

Coming up, Mercy will take on South Sioux City in a tournament on Thursday. As for Omaha Central, they will head out on the road to take on Millard West at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
