Baseball Recap: Marlington Find Success

Logan Smith made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Brock Woods was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Carson Klusch, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Marlington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Marlington's record now sits at 13-6. As for Columbiana, they dropped their record down to 9-13 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Marlington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-5 victory against Canton South on the 14th. As for Columbiana, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-4 loss against Heartland Christian on the 14th.
